We're a geek culture podcast and blog covering video games, music, food and more. We are the kinds of people who evangelize whatever we are into - it could be anything - but it's usually pretty geeky. We're casual, conversational, NSFW and hopefully interesting. We hope you enjoy it.

Podcast for 10.06.08 | Doom Clock Robot Pirate Defense

    doomclockrobotpirate.jpg

I made a game! Well, sort of. This week, Jinny and Qais join me to discuss the week's events including an XNA game jam I participated in, as well as some interesting news in the world of Nintendo. Will the DSi make the DS Lite obsolete? Will America's version of Club Nintendo equal the awesomeness of Japan's Club? And of course, we also answer listener questions. Feed our mailbag! It beckons you.

Good Podcast. Too bad it was one of the shortest Podcasts in a while.

That's fine though, because it totally rocked.

Keep on doing your thang Chris & Qais & Jinny. (I got your name right..)

By the way, that death threat letter I sent; like in the middle where it looked like I made a mistake in my sentence, that was to show that I am the average human being, and Chris is smarter than me.

    Totally on purpose.. ;\

    On mispronouncing.

Because of my predominant French raising, I had a few of these experiences. I believe this was through an amiga game called RAINBOW ISLAND! (amazing) I spoke English correctly but reading however was still something I needed to develop. I would call this game...

    LOW A DING

(Not having a clue what the word loading was or how to pronounce it)

I recall having a laugh recently looking back through my faves.

Somewhat linked to this topic, I first actually learned how to read English through DC comics but mostly a Simpsons Christmas comic I don't recall its names.

The #1 word (or more specifically phrase) I hear mispronounced all the time is "coup de grĂ¢ce." It's pronounced "coo day gras", but people pronounce it "coo day grah."

    @ sitnalta
Yeah, but you can't really expect 'mericans to pronounce that dang ol frog language right, now can ye?

@Kyle The podcast art is a Chris Furniss original! We mention on the podcast that he spent some time making a video game this past weekend. I seriously think it's some of his BEST work.

@Lior Whoops! Forgot to say thanks for spelling my name correctly. Thanks and keep feeding that mailbag!

    I want that XNA game.

I hear a lot of English folk, pronounce silent p and t and so on. It's easily forgivable though.

Oui oui HAW HAW HAW. *Puff up*

    @Jinny
I am now officially queer for Chris' art.

@Sitnalta I know he's my boyfriend and all, but all that aside...Chris' art is officially AWESOME and I'm really glad we have so much of it hanging up around the apartment. You should see the original sketch that he did of that splash page before he worked on it in Photoshop. I called dibs on it and am going to frame it for my office. Okay, done gushing now. :D

Oh my god, Cammie Dunaway is the biggest idiot ever. Plus looking like a foot, she has no clue what she's doing. She's like the damn 50 year old Virgin.

She didn't know people wanted games in Japan? WTF?

For every, "Is this coming out in US", she just responded with,

"I will keep an eye on that one."

She has absolutely no idea what she's talking about.

    Hey ya'll
I just started listening to the Weekly Geek podcast, and in going back though the archives, I found that I couldn't play a few episodes.

It gives me a Not Found message, and I was wondering if an alternative site exists where I can find those episodes.

    Thanks!
