Podcast for 7.21.08 | Look Into The Mirror

    wgfeature_template.jpg

In the aftermath of E3 2008, Chris, Qais and Jinny discuss what ensued during the Nintendo and Sony conferences, and other great games announced at the now stripped down show. They raise questions such as: is Nintendo in the business of making money or making video games? And: what is the plural of "red headed stepchild"? Whether or not you want to have this information in your head is immaterial! It is here. Would you like to hear about our frothing demand for Mirror's Edge and EA's offerings? You can experience this.

Qais, you're doing it wrong with the media center stuff :)

(I'm assuming you run XP for this) Just download Media Player 11, make sure your Xbox is turned on and in your network, set the sharing options and folders to whatever you like, and boom - almost whatever codecs you have installed on your machine, the box will stream. However, no mp4, or mkv files, sadly. But the Media player will automatically scan those folders, so if you get it running, you don't have to add anything manually via media player, unless you really want to make playlists or something.

As for music, the real draw for me is using what I have on my PC streaming as Custom Soundtracks in games, Burnout etc.

Hopefully this was helpful - hit me an email if you wish. All the time you were talking about this media thing, I wanted to scream "Noooooo, you so can do it!" I've been using it for months and months now with no hitch.

I absolutely adore Venture Brothers! It only gets better. I own season 1 and 2 on DVD and I have been trying to watch the new episodes as they get released online. (Pro tip: I'm pretty sure they release the new episodes to the adult swim site on Fridays, so you don't have to wait until the wee hours of Sunday to watch.) I also just ordered an Order of the Triad tee shirt (which is probably no longer available) which is a rare gesture from me since I don't usually go for the media-based merch like that.

Also, with console/PC compatibility, I think I heard that Winamp has some feature or plugin that functions as a media center tool for that kind of streaming. A coworker told me about it, and I kinda forgot the details because I haven't really made the time to experiment.

I've seen no indication of lycanthropy in Oblivion. None mentioned in the Oblivion wiki anyway. Vampirism like whoa, but not lycanthropy.
