Podcast for 11-05-07 | Ye Olde Twinkie - The Weekly Geek

On this week's podcast, Chris and Grant bring you a crazy variety of geeky topics for discussion, as they harangue Star Wars nerds, praise writers on strike, discuss meat soaps, geek out over MST3K coming back (in some form), yell at people who use pre-made pancake batter, talk about the deliciousness of chicken nuggets, and discuss the greater philosophical ramifications of black/white and yellow/green. What does it mean? Find out by downloading the podcast here, or subscribe to the feed to get them delivered to your computer as they are released each week! Yay! Show notes, as always, after the jump.

The thing about the The Grim Adventures of the KND is that its the last episode/special/thing (produced) for both series. In a way its more of an attempt to garner some ratings out of a couple of dying shows before going to rerun hell.

Also I had the Batter Blaster spray can pancakes at my grandpa's house the other day (in his defense he has horrible arthritis). It was surprisingly good.

The McRib just came back. I actually had two a couple nights ago. Go buy one Grant. You know you want to.

Also, I enjoy Grim Adventures, but I've never gotten into KND. I'm interested in the crossover though.

I like MST3k as much as the next guy, providing the next guy is a rabid flaming fanboy lunatic, but there are now no less than three separate "official" MST3k-like properties all doing essentially the same thing!

I too enjoy getting HD DVDs from Netflix--although the waits for the HD versions tend to be longer and I have had many HD DVDs ship from the other side of the country.

I've been using Flock all day and it's wonderful.

I am one of the people who randomly added you guys on Xbox Live after last week's show - I didn't leave a note primarily because using the 360's on-screen keyboard to type anything more than "OK" forces me into epileptic seizures. And I don't leave voice messages for actual people on actual phones, so I definitely won't leave one for fake people in video game land.

That being said, +10 points for using "bard" in a podcast.

+100 for an overall lack of douchiness as of recent shows.

-120 for spending 5 minutes discussing sneakers, the tying of said sneakers, and any/all things sneaker-related.

Kids Next Door is great for two reasons:

    1. It's like a comic book. Storylines weaving in and out of season-long arcs, complete with reoccurring characters andsupervillain team ups.

    2. What other children's show can start with a political thriller and end with a parody of the attack on the Death Star (Operation:ELECTIONS)? Any given epsidoe can be based on literally anything from horror movies to superheroes (The Christmas episode with the Wolverine parody as Santa's special elf was a personal favorite)

Yeah, KND is okay, but Billy and Mandy is awesome! It's totally great and hilarious for adults and kids, I think. Negative points for talking about how adorable Masi Oka is. I mean, he's adorable, but still. You get it all back for recognizing that MST3K is the best scifi related riffing show ever. They should totally bring that back, but how it was in the beginning with just random old movies. I'd totally watch that. As for the guy talking low and high art, who's he to say what's high art? Some of the stuff he considers high art, I would argue is his matter of opinion. Some of the 'lowest' art has gone on to become best remembered. Need I remind you that some of the best artists were unrecognized in their time. And the Pokey Little Puppy has many fine redeeming qualities.

The Pokey Little Puppy was my favorite little golden book. Everyone called me a slow poke cause I took my time doing stuff so I really identified with the main character. ;)
