We're a geek culture podcast and blog covering video games, music, food and more. We are the kinds of people who evangelize whatever we are into - it could be anything - but it's usually pretty geeky. We're casual, conversational, NSFW and hopefully interesting. We hope you enjoy it.

I CAN HAZ NU PLASMIDS?!

plasmid.jpgRumors abound on these here tubular methods of electronic conveyance, as they are wont to do. Rumors regarding a possible expansion on the available plasmids in Bioshock. It would seem someone with far too much time on their hands decided that rather than playing Bioshock over and over as many of my comrades have taken to doing, it would be more rewarding to pore over the .ini files associated with the game. Just why someone would choose to do such a thing is simply beyond me, although the reasoning behind it may lie in the discovery. Sir and/or Madam, you will go down in the annals of time as a hero among "FIRST!" posters.

Just what are these new plasmids and how will we get them? Pound that little jump to find out.

Over at the 2K forums, Zemlor posted this little gem showing those of us not versed in code that there appears to be some plasmids that don't appear in the game that a little speculation indicates might be for an expansion of some kind. So far 2K Games hasn't responded to the rumors confirming or denying such a thing, nor is there any information available on whether the new plasmids will be distributed for free or for pay, which would only add to the fuel of Bioshock whiners worldwide.

The new plasmids are supposedly Machine Buster, Vending Expert, Sonic Boom and EVE Saver, which are all fairly self explanatory. Interestingly, some commenters noted that an expanded list of plasmids might not be enough to get them to play through the game again, which is a damn shame considering just how gorgeous it is. Though if you can't appreciate the game for it's artistic merit, both written and visual, then a second play through is invariably wasted on you and it would benefit you just to wait for Lair so you have something real to complain about.
