Fall 2007 Music Podcast
The quarterly music podcast is upon us! Furniss and Wiegand are at it again with their favorite brand of snobbish elitism and indie music to match. Everything is covered here, from the unique sounds of Andrew Bird to the hilarious comedy numbers by Flight of the Conchords. Andrew Bird - "Imitosis"
Overcoming a bad first impression with us is something really hard for musicians to do and Andrew Bird definitely did. 
St. Vincent - "Your Lips Are Red"
The line in this song "My face is drawn on with this number two pencil" just kills me every time.
Tegan & Sara - "Back In Your Head"
A great deal of maturity shown here from a band not necessarily famous for that sort of thing.
New Pornographers - "Myriad Harbor"
Danny Bejar's contributions to their latest record Challengers seem a little more solid than writing partner A.C. Newman's. Just a first reaction to their latest material.
John Vanderslice - "White Dove"
More fantastic songwriting from Vanderslice whose album Emerald City is bound to be a boutique favorite in this year of indie releases.
Iron & Wine - "White Tooth Man"
Sam Beam in excellent form on this very untypical album for Iron & Wine standards. Look for this album soon.
Band of Horses - "Is There A Ghost?"
Generally I love Band of Horses, but they're sounding very generic on the newest material. Odd... just very odd. Still enjoyable though.
The Go! Team - "Titanic Vandalism"
Still as peppy as ever. Songs like this are kinda cheerful anthems for cubicle workers. You can conquer the world when you listen to The Go! Team, or at least it feels that way.
M.I.A. - "Boyz"
This track definitely rocks the discoteque.
LCD Soundsystem - "All My Friends"
Sorta reminds me of old U2, in a way. John in the Morning from KEXP is obsessed with this band.
Silversun Pickups - "Well Thought Out Twinkles"
Hearkens back to Siamese Dream-era Pumpkins.
Flight of the Conchords - "Business Time"
New Zealand's current favorite sons have one of the funniest shows on TV and now an uproariously hilarious comedy album on Sub Pop Records. Like Matt & Trey from South Park, they're very proficient on their instruments too.
