We're a geek culture podcast and blog covering video games, music, food and more. We are the kinds of people who evangelize whatever we are into - it could be anything - but it's usually pretty geeky. We're casual, conversational, NSFW and hopefully interesting. We hope you enjoy it.

    iPod Dozen #2

Caspian is at it again! This month’s dozen features his latest obsession, Of Montreal, and an audio preview of some of the acts at this year’s Sasquatch Festival. Hit the bump below for track commentaries.

    1. Of Montreal – “Suffer For Fashion”
Danceable Indie Glam Pop. Singer Kevin Barnes is a total freakshow live, but amazing on recording.

    2. The White Stripes – “Icky Thump”
Another infectious tune from Jack White and a slight expansion of style for the Stripeys here with the use of 60s psychedelic organ.

    3. Low – “Violent Past”
This one captures the solemn drone of Drums and Guns.

    4. Wilco – “Side With the Seeds”
Jeff Tweedy and Co. are less experimental than they were on their last two records and more direct on this number.

    5. My Brightest Diamond – “Golden Star”
Saw her at The Paramount this past Friday. She totally rocked this song with her leg in a brace and sitting down.

    6. The Decemberists – “Yankee Bayonet (I Will Be Home Then)”
My Brightest Diamond also made a guest appearance on this Colin Meloy penning that night.

    7. The Books – “Take Time”
Caught The Books live at Neumos a few weeks back and this was the highlight of my night.

    8. Blue Scholars – “The Ave”
They will be at The Showbox this coming Friday and Saturday. Frodo and I will be present taking in the events of the second night.

    9. Gnarls Barkley – “Who Cares”
A look back at Gnarls’ record from last year. A little nod to the big guns of the Hip Hop scene: Cee-Lo & Danger Mouse.

    10. Beastie Boys – “Ch-Check It Out”
The next 3 tracks of this playlist are from artists that will be performing on Day One of the Sasquatch Festival. The Beastie Boys, in addition to their normal phat rhymes, will be playing a special instrumental set on Saturday, May 26th.

    11. The Blow – “The Sky Opened Wide Like the Tide”
Frodo turned me on to both The Blow and Mirah. This duo heralds the “Click Pop” genre, and this track is a good indication why.

    12. Mirah – “Don't Die In Me”
Subtle, Lo-Fi excellence here. Off the all-around great release C’mon Miracle.
