We're a geek culture podcast and blog covering video games, music, food and more. We are the kinds of people who evangelize whatever we are into - it could be anything - but it's usually pretty geeky. We're casual, conversational, NSFW and hopefully interesting. We hope you enjoy it.

HOLY CRAP: Picture of the day - Tesla Car

    tesla%20coil%20on%20car.jpg

Tesla Motors should really consider implementing this security system in their new electric cars. Via Treehugger today, this is the electric car of one Australian citizen named Peter Terren. He apparently majored in mad science at university.

Terren welded a long aluminum tube to a home-built 5-kilowatt Tesla coil, combined it with an old aircraft control motor, and mounted the whole thing atop a Hyundai. Sparks jump from the tip of the tube to the ground as it swings around the car about once every 10 seconds. (This photograph is a long exposure showing more than one rotation.)

    Bad. Ass.

I have one of those half-built in my basement. Maybe someday I can justify spending the money to finish it.

I have my working 250Kv model however, and I love it. Taking gorgeous pictures of it is a piece of cake.

The only downside is they are scary. Not only do they charge the air with hundreds of thousands of volts, but they also make a HORRENDOUS sound. It's deafening and not exactly a pleasant tone.
