Left Behind game being left behind

Left Behind game sucksRemember the Left Behind game we talked about a couple weeks ago? In a stunning turn of events, it seems that the Christians are leaving behind Left Behind after all. GameDaily.biz reports that certain Christian groups are actually coming together to protest the game (what won't Christians get offended about?) in light of it's interpretation of biblical events. From the article:

In particular, Rev. Tim Simpson, a Jacksonville Presbyterian minister and president of the Christian Alliance for Progress, said that the game actually distorts biblical prophecy while promoting religious intolerance and violence at the same time. He also said that it rejects accepted biblical scholarship by misreading prophetic books like Revelation.

Considering that the bible sees eating shellfish and having gay sex equally sinful and hell-worthy, this is pretty silly. While I agree that Left Behind has some pretty negative themes, the bible is viewed by most Christians as very open to interpretation and cherry-picking. I just think it's funny the Christian Coalition thinks that enough people will actually play this game to warrant an all-out protest.

There has been alot of misleading information spun throughout the public and media regarding Left Behind Eternal Forces game. I encourage you to visit www.menofgod.us & download a trial version. I believe the first hand experience will allow you the opportunity to judge for yourself and put these rumors to a rest.
Here is a statement from the CEO, Troy Lyndon, to clarify some of the misconceptions and propaganda:
    LEFT BEHIND: Eternal Forces
    A PC Game

FOCUS ON THE FAMILY endorses our game. Read below to find out why!
Our game DOES NOT encourage killing.
    Our game is NOT anti-Semitic.
Our game is NOT anti-Muslim or anti-Islamic.

It is anti-EVIL! The ultimate bad-guy is the Antichrist who wants to eliminate all faiths and all religions, except his and he is deceiving the entire world.

Our game does NOT teach the pre-tribulation theology of the book series, except that this worldview is utilized as a FICTIONAL backdrop of the game.

In the past several days, numerous people have been and continue to spread misinformation about the game.

Our game is the first game ever to encourage the use of PRAYER and WORSHIP as the most effective means to resolve conflict.

Physical warfare is discouraged as the LEAST EFFECTIVE means for resolving conflict…and a gamer loses points for using a gun.

This is the world’s first high-quality inspirational game which intends to model positive behavior by discouraging physical warfare.

Please play the game for yourself and help us to get out the TRUTH.

In an industry which creates so much gratuitous violence and gore, LEFT BEHIND: Eternal Forces presents a healthy alternative. We need your help to get the word out!

PLAY THE GAME and find out for yourself that this game is about the battle of good versus evil.

Here are a few things said by others:
    - The Anti-Defamation League, although they speak out against the book theology, says “Conversion to Christianity in the game is not depicted as forcible in nature, and violence is not rewarded in the game.”
    - AOL says it is a “Positive Moral Message”
    - Focus on the Family says “Finally! A game Mom and Dad can play with Junior”
    - Concerned Women for America says “A game we can wholeheartedly recommend!”
    - Wired Magazine “Few are as ambitious and polished as this PC title.”
    - ArsTechnica.com “This is a game that Christian parents can buy their kids, and one that Christian kids can play themselves without any guilt about "questionable content."”
    - Women of Faith says “In an industry that is full of destruction with no hope, the LEFT BEHIND game
    - Clint Thomas from Chaos Theory says “For years we’ve been telling kids what to run from and not what to run to, until now!”

Should you have any concerns about this game, please go to the contact us page on our website at www.leftbehindgames.com and we’ll do our best to connect with you.

    Sincerely,
    Troy Lyndon
    CEO, Left Behind Games Inc.

Wow, I love chain mail! So if i forward this to 6 people... I get to go to heaven? NEAT

Your game is silly and perpetuates a culture of ignorance that really cannot be tolerated any longer. Your complete refusal and denial of scientific evidence and fact is childish, stubborn, mean and sad. Your indoctrination of youth is tantamount to abuse, and you need to be stopped. In the meantime, I will rebut your points. Please forward it to your CEO. Or something.

But your holy book does encourage killing. Also, if you are right, doesn't that mean that everyone else is wrong? Don't you want to eliminate all OTHER faiths and religions to replace them with your own? What makes you different?

Our game is the first game ever to encourage the use of PRAYER and WORSHIP as the most effective means to resolve conflict.

That's probably because that's a retarded concept. Bush certainly is using prayer really really well these days, and ONLY prayer. Oh, wait. The killing. I forgot about all the horrible killing.

In an industry which creates so much gratuitous violence and gore, LEFT BEHIND: Eternal Forces presents a healthy alternative. We need your help to get the word out!

So does the movie industry. And books. And comic books! Did you know that the vast majority of video games AREN'T gory or violent? As a matter of fact, most games being made today don't involve guns. It's the high profile games that involve violence, and most of them are brought into the light by ignorant people like you who want to censor or block video games. It's not the game industry's fault for kids being influenced by things, it's their parent's fault.

    - Focus on the Family says “Finally! A game Mom and Dad can play with Junior”
How very "leave it to beaver"! But with more lies. Except about the part where mom and dad sleep in different beds. That part was horrible truth. What a weird show.

    - Concerned Women for America says “A game we can wholeheartedly recommend!”

The Botox Sellers for America says "I am glad there are so many furrowed brows to be found with the Concerned Women for America!"

    - ArsTechnica.com “This is a game that Christian parents can buy their kids, and one that Christian kids can play themselves without any guilt about "questionable content."”

That's completely removes any accountability on the parent's side. That is saying that the parent can just sit down their kid and not worry about actually having any involvement in their child's decision making or development. Awesome. Not all games have "questionable content", and if a game DOES they are usually called something like "Grand Theft Auto", "Gears of War", or "Super Titty Explosion Drugs Are Cool 4000". IT'S USUALLY OBVIOUS IF YOU READ THE LABEL OR THE RATING. Quit using the game industry as a scapegoat. Look at yourself and take some damn responsibilty.

    - Women of Faith says “In an industry that is full of destruction with no hope, the LEFT BEHIND game

I am not even going to give such an ignorant statement a response. You used that? You actually USED that?

You are doing much more harm to children than any video game NOT made by you could ever make. You are telling them lies about very fundamental things that make us human. It's ignorant, and it's important that you stop before all of humanity falls under the shadow of stupid.

This statement is posted from an employee of Left Behind Games on behalf of Troy Lyndon, our Chief Executive Officer.

There has been in incredible amount of MISINFORMATION published in the media and in online blogs here and elsewhere.

Pacifist Christians and other groups are taking the game material out of context to support their own causes. There is NO “killing in the name of God” and NO “convert or die”. There are NO “negative portrayals of Muslims” and there are NO “points for killing”.

Please play the game demo for yourself (to at least level 5 of 40) to get an accurate perspective, or listen to what CREDIBLE unbiased experts are saying after reviewing the game at www.leftbehindgames.com/pages/controversy.htm

Then, we’d love to hear your feedback as an informed player.

The reality is that we’re receiving reports everyday of how this game is positively affecting lives by all who play it.

Thank you for taking the time to be a responsible blogger.

Hey, with so many people having an opinion about this game, how many have actually played it? And what credibility do they have? Focus on the Family has publications which can set the record straight for everyone…at [link removed]

Focus on the family is also filled with ignorant fucktards. Not only are they not a credible source for ANYTHING, they don't get a link on my website. Sorry.
