It's that time of the week again! Oh, wait, what's that? There was no Weekly Geek update? Yeahhhh... see about that. We had some technical difficulties. We think that terrorists were probably trying to take us down (we are a threat to them, you see) and the interweb crashed. Yeah! The whole internet just crashed and we weren't able to record a show at the proper time. Crazy huh? Well it's the truth.
We will be back sometime later this week. In the meantime, might I recommend checking out some of our archived shows? Both the iTunes feed and the other feed should have some of our old interviews, such as the one with Mark Hamill and the one with Maurice LaMarche. They are fun times. Go to it! Or don't.

We spend so much time talking about video games here, we don't ever really stop to look around us in the world and notice when true heroes are doing great work. Meet Van Harden, lawn mower victim and Real American Hero (tm) who has invented what the world has been yearning for and didn't even know it: a crustless pizza. The "crust" is made entirely of cheese. (Wipes away single tear, salutes).
Ok, seriously. This man had a lawn mowing accident, had some surgeries and didn't want to eat bread anymore, so he invented a way to use cheese as pizza dough. This. Sounds. Amazing. I want five. I want them now.
Click here for the article. He seems like a bit of a megalomaniac inventer type, but that's his charm.

We have been magically blessed by the fanboy Gods today as I present to you a Weekly Geek desktop wallpaper (widescreen for Mac, but I'm sure you can use it for Windows too. I guess) created by the talented Stewart Lawrence. This is the second fan art he has made for us, and I will put both of em up in their own fan art section. Click the thumb to download it! It's neat! Thanks, Stewart. If anyone else wants to send us fan art, checks, free stuff, go right ahead. We love it.

Hello, Frodo here. I am a big nerd. This of course spans the breadth of nerd-dom, including music. Each week it seems I download a new album from iTunes, and I feel like I should share my music nerdiness with you, the Weekly Geek reader/listener. Because if we have the same taste in video games, it's possible we have the same taste in music, right? Each week I'll tell you what I downloaded and what I am listening to, and maybe you'll post your thoughts or what you are listening to too! SOUNDS LIKE FUN? OKAY! HERE WE GO!

This week is a download from The
Blue Scholars, a local (to me) Seattle hip-hop group that I discovered after hearing their live performance on
KEXP. My wife once said to me when describing some "phat beats" "you know when a hip-hop song is
appealing?" I find Blue Scholars very
appealing. Let me tell you, I am white. I am very very very white. I am the whiteyest of white boys, but I do enjoy hip-hop. Intelligent hip-hop, mind you. Blue Scholars falls into this field by providing lyrics that you can not only
understand but
may just relate to you, my fellow geeky listener. They rap about the failings of the American higher education system, the failings of the American high school system, and
no hoes or pimps in sight. They do not seem to
thug or
front though I must say their beats are quite "phat". They use some great jazz and samba loops and are incredibly melodic. I am absolutely addicted to
The Ave, which I would recommend checking out as a single.

Part of being a good video game lovin', Nintendo Power readin' child of the 80's was the Howard and Nester comic. This strange game advertisement/Nintendo corporate fanfic has a fond place in all our hearts, mainly because it introduced us to the fact that the president of a large corporation can be cool enough to wear a red bowtie in public. That's why here at the Weekly Geek we think we should congratulate Reggie Fils-Aime on his promotion to President of Nintendo of America by sending him off in style. The man needs his bow tie!
You can find 'em at Goodwill. Maybe your dad has one. Maybe YOU have one. Maybe you just mugged Bill Nye or Pee Wee Herman. Or print out this one. Reggie has been awesome so far to really help Nintendo's image in the gaming world, and to show your support, send him a bowtie. Paper or cloth, it doesn't matter. Include a note about how awesome you think Nintendo is.
You know you want to. Here's where to send it:
Reggie Fils-Aime
c/o Nintendo of America Inc
4820 150th Ave NE
Redmond, WA 98052
