We're a geek culture podcast and blog covering video games, music, food and more. We are the kinds of people who evangelize whatever we are into - it could be anything - but it's usually pretty geeky. We're casual, conversational, NSFW and hopefully interesting. We hope you enjoy it.

Podcast for Monday, May 22nd 2006

This week Frodo and The Geek get back into the swing of things and discuss New Super Mario Bros and other non-video game related items. That's right, for the first time in MONTHS the geeks talk about Sci-Fi and nerdy things again. Phew! Have some delicious show notes.

Dr. Who isn't nessisarilly "cancelled", they've just switched to another series with another Doctor.

A shame since I think Christopher Eccleston is the best Doctor of the whole series.

Plus the way Scifi channel has been plugging the DVD (as in "Own Dr. Who the ***Complete First Season*** June whenever"). Makes me think Scifi might fund another season with the current cast.

Or just... import the new one.

You should also bear in mind that British TV shows have shorter seasons than American ones. The first season of the relaunch had only 13 episodes in total, but it wasn't cancelled after this. The second season has just started showing over here in the UK and it's still hugely popular.

That doesn't mean to say that the US networks haven't "cancelled" their showings, though.

Yeah, the brits do "Seasons" differently. They split shows by "series", and after the first or second "Series" sometimes they just stop making the show. It's not like the states where we run good shows into the ground.

Or we cancel them even though they're amazingly good after improperly promoting them and bumping around the time slot and then blame the show for losing the audience. *coughfireflycough*

I have to agree with you Geek also. Firefly should of NEVER been taken off the air. It should of at least got one more season.

I also have to agree with Frodo. Some times when something good comes along, the networks just try to milk the cow as long as possible making the show or series crappier and crappier ever season.

That's what I'm worried FOX will do to 24.

Doesn't that mean Britain does 'seasons' right? I mean, correct me if I'm wrong, but a season is a fourth of a year (=13 weeks), and 13 episodes a season, one episode per week....

yes but they dont call them seasons, you see. because there is no guarantee that the show will return after a series has ended. in america, we just assume that once a season is over the show will continue into the next season.
