    New Nintendo DS Revealed

This is not a "take this with a grain of salt" moment.

    nintendo ds lite

Today on the Nintendo Japan website, the DS redesign was announced. It is retailing for about $150 US (whatever that is in Yen) and looks completely logical. It doesn't seem to have a GBA slot, it's slimmed down and looks like an iPod. The DS has a very mature iPod-buying audience so this makes complete sense. No surprises here. Move along.

Well, we pretty much knew that Nintendo was going to release a redesigned DS eventually, it was just a matter of when.

Looks like it's just a bit slimmer and sharper looking and I wouldn't be surprised if they had brighter screens since that's what they've done with the GameBoy Micro and the newer GBA SPs.

I would have hoped that they would've tried to drop the price to be at least comparable to the current DS, since it technically has less functionality.

They're probably hoping to get a some new adopters to the system with the iPod-ish look, but I would suspect that they'll probably have a good amount of business from current DS owners looking for the new slick, shiny version.

Certainly we were expecting it. I know I am going to pick one up. I really look forward to a DS I can actually fit in my pocket.

Jury is still out on whether or not it has GBA functionality, but I would doubt it.

It does have a GBA slot, the only thing that has changed (aside from the size) is that the screen now has four levels of brightness.

I'm not so sure I dig the white, but as long as it has a GBA slot I'm interested.
