Overview: So you’re a console gamer, and you see all your PC gamer friends with their fancy case mods and you want to join the party. Spray painting your Gamecube doesn’t seem like a very smart idea, and there’s really no way to put a window in it, so what do you do? Bumper stickers? Decal Girl has high quality vinyl decals for your systems, including gamecube, xbox, ps2, slim ps2, gba sp, Nintendo ds, and even iPod, iPod mini and the new iPod shuffle.
Shininess: We received an xbox skin, a pstwo skin, a slim ps2 skin and a gamecube skin for review. Each skin comes with different parts, and different levels of difficulty of application. The most complicated skin was the Xbox skin, partly because the xbox itself is freakin’ huge. The least complicated, with only 4 parts, was the slim pstwo skin, but only because it’s so freakin’ small. You might think that these are just standard stickers, but you would be thinking wrong, my friend. These decals are super high quality vinyl and look fantastic. They are cut to perfectly fit any system, and when applied look like a professional paint job. The designs go from flat colors to fractal patterns, to flames and even SCARY SKULLS. OOOOH. Most console skins come with matching skins for the controllers, as well. I didn’t really like the gamecube controller skin, as it covers up the front part of the controller where the Nintendo logo is, which I am actually quite fond of seeing. The Slim PS2 skin is very cool, the Gamecube skin covers 4 sides of the cube, and is also very nice looking. The Xbox skin, I would say, is the coolest, just for sheer surface area and how it accents the console.
Funness: I guess you could say that these are fun to put on. It’s also fun to look at them after you’ve put them on.
Worthiness: Decal Girl says that these skins will look as good 2 years from now as they do today, and while I have no way of telling at the moment if that is true, I can tell you that they are very high quality. They also leave no sticky residue on your system if you decide to take them off, and yes, you can even wash them in water (both sides) and they remain sticky. I tried it. It was amazing. Most of the decals on the site are fairly inexpensive and high quality enough to be worth the price, in my opinion. If you are looking to spice up your console, maybe you take your Gamecube over to friend’s houses to play Donkey Konga or something and want a way to impress them, definitely check them out. They also have iPod skins which are all the rage with the “kids” these days.
